  I have been a long-time patient of Dr Baskin. He is a compassionate, down-to-earth psychiatrist who has enabled me to live a happy, productive life thanks to his intervention in a couple of debilitating conditions I struggled with my entire adult life. With Dr. Baskin's help, I turned those conditions into positive assets that improved my relationships and furthered my career. Along the way, there were setbacks that life hands all of us from time-to-time. During those times, Dr. Baskin was there for me, adjusting therapy as needed, thus enabling me to keep moving forward. I have found that when life is going good and we're happy with goods and services we receive, we tend not write about them. It's only when we've had a misunderstanding or miscommunication with a person providing those services to get online and complain about them. And, if someone else had a similar experience, then it had the tendency to turn into a pile-on. I'm am writing my review on Google, hoping that some of Dr. Baskin's potential patients see it. I was on Yelp recently and saw that many of Dr. Baskin's reviews were negative. When you look further, Yelp software algorithms suppressed most of his 4 and 5 star reviews - including mine! That is just wrong! Many people don't know that Yelp is notorious for extorting business owners into buying Yelp's business and advertising services. If the business owner refuses, the negative reviews are the ones that float to the top. I think Yelp is unfair and sleazy because of this. That's why I look to Google Reviews for goods and services that I'm interested in. Google will post ALL of the reviews in the order they were received - good or bad. They also let the service provider respond to reviews without having to pay for the privilege like they do at Yelp. This is my advice if you're looking for a psychiatrist: Don't expect a psychiatrist to be your regular once-a-week therapist. It's impossible to understand and solve your mental health care issues in 20 minutes. It's also prohibitively expensive if you want an hour of (any) psychiatrist's time every week. A psychiatrist should be viewed as member of your therapy team. You should bring in a psychiatrist if you and your once-a-week therapist decide medication would be helpful to whatever condition your struggling with. You should establish a link between your therapist and psychiatrist so they work together to make you feel better as quickly as possible. Without this team approach, you cannot expect a psychiatrist alone to prescribe a medication and make you feel better instantly. Conditions that require medication for relief are complex and not everyone responds in the same way to the same medication. Our culture teaches us to expect instant results. You want to be fixed right now, I get it. It will take time, be patient. In matters of your brain ... trust it the proper team of professionals. In my experience, Dr. Baskin addressed my issues in a reasonable amount of time. He has worked decades with patients and their reactions to psychotropic medication. Based upon his lifelong experience, he will help you feel better, quicker, because of it. That is why I've stayed with Dr. Baskin for 13 years.
